The Oscar Has Landed

Oscar made it home last night, around 9:00 or so. And now it's nearly 1 in the morning, a day later, and I'm only now getting a free minute to post the pics and a couple words about the little rascal. I've gotta say, he's pretty amazingly energetic. And also absolutely completely totally adorable:

Look at that face! You could not say no to that puppy, it's just not possible. And ultimately probably not a big deal, since he really hasn't grasped what the word "no" means. Or any other words, really. We keep calling him "Oscar" and hopefully that's starting to get through to him, but so far not so much.

What else is there to say? It's pretty amazing how much personality he already has. We're already assembling a list of things he likes, including:

* squeaky toys. That squeak just entrances him.

* playing with his reflection in mirrors. We have a floor length mirror in the bedroom, and he is obsessed with finding out where that other dog is. Seriously, I need to videotape this and figure out how to put it on the website.

* toes. Dude's like a tiny little Quentin Tarantino or something. If there are toes around, whether in socks or not, he needs to check that scene out.

* crawling under the coffee table. He gets down with his belly to the ground and kinda shimmies himself under there, for reasons unknown. As you can see below, he just likes to hang out down there sometimes:

Also he tends to respond to Karen and me in completely different ways. With me, for whatever reason, he gets very excited. If I'm in the room and I'm paying attention to him, he'll starting running and hopping around, challenging me. I just rev him up for some reason, and I have no idea why.

With Karen, on the other hand, he's just a little mama's boy. Much more relaxed and cuddly. If she's walking around, he'll follow behind her just to check out what she's doing. And he'll curl up in her lap whenever she sits down. He's much more mellow with her.

Anyways, it's late and I'm tired, and hopefully Oscar is too. He woke up last night at 3 in the morning and again at 6, so we're really hoping he'll make it through the night tonight. He's already in his crate, so let's hope he's chilling out and out for the night:

Holy crap. We're so jealous.

I think you're gonna need to bring him out here in May.

PS: Carey, you should be writing full time.
